Paint Coating vs PPF

Paint Coatings vs PPF? Whats best for you?

They both protect the paint, so whats the big difference?

Let’s take, for instance, a bullet proof vest.  The sole purpose and design of this is to stop bullets from penetrating the surface of the kevlar, keeping your body protected.  This theory, in a way, is related to Paint Protection Film; which sole purpose is not to stop bullets, but stop rocks and other objects from harming the paint.

Now, for instance, image a HazMat suit.  The purpose of this is to stop toxic contaminants from entering the body and keeping you safe from the stuff you cannot see.  This theory, in a way, is related to Ceramic Pro, which intention is to stop any harmful contaminants from embedding themselves onto the clear coat of your paint.

A bullet proof vest will not be sufficient against hazardous materials, just like a Hazmat suit is not bulletproof.  See where we are going with this?

Although, both products to a great job at protection the paint of your car, each one has its own strengths and weaknesses.  However, if the two are applied together, your vehicle receives and incredible protection package.

So what coating do we offer?

Why did we choose to go with Ceramic Pro?  Simple.  It has proved to offer the most consistent finish, incredible hydrophobic characteristics, and superior gloss.  Ceramic Pro is not a sealant or a wax, it’s a nano ceramic coating that forms a permanent adhesion to the paint and can only be removed through abrasion. When cured, this unique and highly advanced formula will transform itself on the surface to a permanent rigid glass shield.  Read more about Ceramic Pro here.

So whats the difference between the two?

Ceramic Pro offers semi-permanent coatings that can last 2 years and permanent coatings that may last 5+ years depending on the package selected.  Coated surfaces have an increased resilience to all environmental contaminants and aid in reduction of surface scratches caused by driving and washing.  Bird droppings, industrial fallout, brake dust and chemical deterioration are now less of a worry and will not harm the vehicles clear coat.

We recommend to exercise proper maintenance and care, even coated vehicles.

Washing the vehicle now becomes a breeze, as the hydrophobic properties of the coating help encapsulate dirt in the water beads as they roll off the surface.

We call this this the self-cleaning effect.

Paint Protection Film

Did you know that PPF was initially used in the military?

More specifically the film was designed for helicopter blades to protect the metal from rock chips flying up due to the turbulent air.  For obvious reasons, clarity and finish were not that much of a concern for the helicopter tape, rather the protection of the blades was priority #1.  Then….. some genius…. decided to protect his car from those damn rock chips!  Enter a new industry for the automotive world.  Over the past years, the advancements of Paint Protection Film have drastically improved.

Gone are the days of the yellowing, cracking and fading film.

We now offer top quality films such as XPEL Ultimate, SunTek Ultra, and Hexis BodyFence.  All of these films have been carefully selected, to offer pinnacle protection for your paint, and to offer a few different price perspectives for our clients.

Paint Protection Film is used to protect the automotive surface against scrapes, rock chips, airborne contaminants and what ever you may run into.  All of our films we offer come equipped with self-healing technology, which allows any damages caused to the top coat of the film to heal by themselves.  Warranties on our films range from 5 years up to 10 years, and are guaranteed not to yellow, crack or fade, peel or bubble.

Synergy

So let’s be honest, having your full vehicle wrapped in Paint Protection Film isn’t exactly the cheapest.  However it does provide the highest level of protection and preservation for your ride.  Just think about how much resale goes down if the vehicle is in rough shape… would you buy a beat up car?  Probably not, right?  If price is an issue, we then recommend to have the frontal area wrapped that is most prone to stone chips.  Having the car coated, even if full wrapped or partial wrapped is only an added benefit.

All the PPF Films we carry have excellent bonding properties to Ceramic Pro.

All surfaces will now to protected by a glass coating, making the film or clear coat resistant to bird droppings, much easier to wash.

Our Final Thoughts…

At the end of the day, each respective service protects the paint in its own unique way.  PPF will help defend against physical damages by creating an invisible shield.  Ceramic Pro will bond to the vehicle, creating a forcefield of defence, protecting against chemicals, contaminants, and while adding unparalleled shine and ease of cleaning.  We recommend for our clients to come visit our shop to see the differences in person between the two products.
